E-Cell Prospectus

Dr. B.C.Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences,Durgapur offers a friendly atmosphere where students learn,share and shine with expertise in medicines to ensure a healthier tomorrow.

The Institute has focused on running an entrepreneurship cell actively in the campus that aims in creating awareness, imparting knowledge and developing entrepreneurship skills by training. Constant efforts by teachers and students helps to imbibe the skills and competencies to achieve goals directed by values have a positive attitude and have the ability to cope with the changing times.

Growth and prosperity in a nation is governed by a nation’s industrial activities and economic growth. Entrepreneurs are essential components of the economic growth in a country, thus it is important to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship among the technical graduates. The Entrepreneurship Awareness Program will hence be useful to guide and motivate potential candidates ensuing towards entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is crucial when there is large population seeking for jobs and less number of employment seats is available. Innovative ideas, new jobs and uplifting competitive dynamics then become very important.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP & STARTUP

  • Encourage and motivate personnel’s to build entrepreneurial mindset in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network(NEN).
  • Develop innovative ideas of business through seminars, lecture sessions, interactive sessions, workshops etc.
  • Promote skills according to their inclination towards specific business idea.
  • Providing adequate knowledge about process and availability of finance that would be beneficial to eventually start their venture.
  • Developing a forum for presenting business plan.

 ACTIVITIES

2016

  • Settingup an Entrepreneurship Development cell to foster E-cell activities in the institute in association with National Entrepreneurship Network. In this regard a MOU agreement with NEN in collaboration with Wadhwani foundation has been proposed by the members and the proposal was presented to the head of the institute for approval.
  • Intra-college Entrepreneurship Meet “The Novateur 2016” was held on 16th September 2016. Young talents came up with their start up ideas to give it an Entrepreneurial shape.
  • A non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) in collaboration with Wadhwani foundation was provided for the term of 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2019. Dr. Indrani Bhattacharyya along with Mr. SagarSengupta and Mr. ProsunMoitra were made responsible for maintain separate funds for this purpose and a student’s committee was formed.
  • Workshop 1-1st 100/- Venture: In this activity participated students interacted with the common people and common entrepreneur. This event was a great success and all the participants enjoyed it like anything.

2017

  • EEP (Entrepreneurship Educators Program) for Durgapur cluster was starting which was attended by Dr.Indrani Bhattacharyya from 11th July 2017 and continue till 15th July 2017 at DIATM from 10a.m.-4:30p.m.
  • Intra-College Entrepreneur’s Meet “The Novateur” 2017 was conducted on 8th September 2017 in which the young talents from BCRCP campus came up with their start up ideas to give it an entrepreneurial shape.

2018

  • E-week celebration was proposed in Feb 2018 in which a competition was organized among the students and Dr. Indrani Bhattacharyya and Mr. Avik Kr. Saha were the program coordinators.
  • Kalidas Acharya had presented a startup proposal in the pitching session-Health Hack held on 13th April, 2018 at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University.
  • Workshop 2: 2nd 100/- Venture – This was done same as the 1st venture. After the huge success of the 1st venture, this was done on request of the E cell members.
  • Earlier the E cell course started as a foundation course now it has been made a compulsory academic subject for all first year students. A compulsory Entrepreneurship Training Program as per Wadhwani Foundation (NEN) course structure will be conducted during 2nd semester computer practical lab (PTC 293) for all B.Pharm 1st Year students. The course carries definite credit points and was mandatory for all students of first year. A class of E-Cell (Course WF 101) for the Old batches were also conducted on 17th January, 2018 in SIT.

2019

  • Our College has been approved for the Basic and Advance Curriculum of Entrepreneurship offered by Wadhwani Foundation on 13th June 2019. A WF format was followed in the curriculum which was Basic Course in Entrepreneurship and Advance course in Entrepreneurship involving 20 credits each in MAR.
  • An Annual event was conducted by E-cell BCRCP in which Dr. SatyajitBasu ,Mr. Subhabrata Bhattacharjee, Prof. Dr.Nirmal Kr. Roy, Mr. Manish Saraf, Mr. kalidas Acharya became our revered guests. A competition regarding business plan strategy was introduced to produce their business plan in less than 12 minutes and the teams were made and winners were decided by the judges. First Year and 2nd year students showed great enthusiasm for the same.

2020

  • From 14th January 2020, classes on entrepreneurship were arranged every Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for E-cell members.
  • An event named “Pharm Bizz” was organized during the Tech Fest, where students presented their business ideas through PowerPoint presentations.

2021

  • E-Cell Curriculum Course: Online E-Cell classes were conducted every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. starting from 18th September 2021 for all B.Pharm 1st-year students.
  • Two students participated in the national-level business idea pitching competition at AIC Nalanda (Atal Innovation Labs), sponsored by the MHRD, Government of India.

2022

  • Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was held from 4th–6th May 2022, sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology (DSTBT), Government of West Bengal. About 85 students from different colleges participated. Esteemed entrepreneurs were invited to motivate students for start-ups. Events like quiz contests and business idea/model presentations allowed students to express their creativity and learn about entrepreneurship.

  • Practice Venture Projects: “ASSUAGE” and “MeDiCo” were drafted by BCRCP E-Cell members on 24th February 2023.
    • ASSUAGE: A lightweight handkerchief for patients with motion sickness by Amrita Singha, Antara Gupta, and Sinchan Roy (B.Pharm 3rd Year).
    • MeDiCo: A healthcare platform and E-pharmacy startup idea presented by Soubhagya Mukherjee, Sayan Kar, Pritam De, and Bastav Mazumdar (B.Pharm 3rd Year).

  • AI-Based Mini Project: Sucheta Karmakar developed a scalable AI-powered online tool for early detection of brain tumours to reduce mortality and human error.

2024

  • On 7th March 2024, in celebration of Women’s Day, the E-cell in collaboration with the ICC of the Institute organized an event themed “Valuing and Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Inspiring Inclusion in Economic Development.” Renowned women entrepreneurs like Ms. Utkarsha Rajepandhare (Founder, PSR Sustainability), Krishna Sur (Krishna Sur's Creation), and Payel Bajoria (Founder, Miharu) shared their entrepreneurial journeys. A competition named “SHARP TANK” was also held to encourage BCRCP students to pitch innovative business ideas in teams.

2025

  • Wadhwani Ignite Entrepreneurship Program was conducted at Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy & Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation. This structured 14-week journey (from 13th August 2024 to 30th April 2025) took students through a real-world experiential venture-building process.
  • A total of 33 ventures were created by undergraduate students.
  • The program concluded with a two-day workshop led by Mr. Subhabrata Bhattacharya, Senior Program Manager, Wadhwani Foundation, titled “How to Build Your Pitchdeck.”
  • Out of all participating teams, 10 ventures were certified by Wadhwani Foundation.

OUR ACHIVEMENTS

  • Mr. SujitNayek, B.Pharm 3rd Year and Ms. Tania Sadhu, b.Pharm 3rd Year were made E-leaders on 06.12.2016.
  • There was a B-PLAN event in BHU, Varanasi and an E-cell member bagged 2nd prize in the event.
  • Kalidas Acharya got selected for grant of startup proposal entitled” Positive liquid Organic Protection by DPSRU Innovation & Incubation Foundation (DIIF) on 9th May, 2018.
  • Our Students Miss Shreya Maji & MrTunir Sahoo under the mentorship of DrIndrani Bhattacharya (Asst. Professor) of our College Participated in National level Business Idea pitching competition of AIC Nalanda ,Atal Innovation Labs Sponsored by MHRD Government of India. Among 175 ventures of various states of India they have secured one of the top spots. They won a special prize and there achievement has also been featured in various national newspaper like "The Statesman".
  • Our venture Prickless& No mosq has been selected from eastern zone for funding of their respective venture from Wadhwani foundation.
  • Our student Mr.Arijit Dey have won 3rd prize inPharmabuiz idea 2020 national e poster competition.
